Continuing on with our tour…
Imagine you’ve just ventured into the kitchen. It’s huge, and the pantry is full. Spices tease your nose and make you sneeze. The refrigerator, filled from top to bottom with every sort of delicacy, offers plenty of temptation.
Now, what about your story? Let’s enter the “kitchen” phase to examine the following:
What sort of story are you cooking up? A mystery? A romance? A thriller? A historical? Each genre is specific unto itself and requires both research and proper layout.
Whatever genre you’ve chosen, be sure you’ve eaten at the table of the masters. If you’re cooking up a suspense, read suspense. If you’re a romance writer, dine with the romantics. And if you’re into thrillers, share a meal with someone who’s conquered the art of generating goose-bumps. In other words, learn from those who have walked before you. Study the great chefs to master their gourmet recipes.
Things to Consider:
The reader expects your very best.
Become a reader. Read everything you can in your genre.
Kitchens offer major temptations. I’m sure you can think of many!
