If you're looking to monetize your blog, here are some suggestions:
Fast-Track Your Blog to Monetization:
Rank IQ will push you there. My posts began to soar when I started using the content optimizer on RankIQ, which I consider the fast-track to acquiring more sessions. The slower track would be keysearch.co, which is good….but not great. If you DO sign up with RankIQ please list me as a referral. They have a program that benefits me when people do that. Please use my link to purchase (https://www.rankiq.com/?fpr=janice42).
BLOGGING FOR MONEY:
- Don’t fret over $$ in the first year. You’re making investment and won’t see reward for some time.
- Don’t worry too much about social media: Blogging is a google-driven business so build your SEO strategies. (More on this in a bit.)
Ways to make money on your blog:
- The $$ is in the list (build your email list). Use exit intent pop-ups to get sign-ups.
- Update, update, update. Keep updates above the fold, if possible. (If the post has already ranked.)
- Affiliate marketing (link to items on amazon, direct to your associates account).
- An affiliate program is an agreement in which a business pays another business or influencer ('the affiliate') a commission for sending traffic and/or sales their way. This can be achieved through web content, social media, or a product integration.
- I personally make money from Amazon and RankIQ. Pick a niche you want to promote. (I promote baking supplies. High end items like KitchenAid mixers, and other baking equipment would be high on my list to share.) You can drop these links in organically or place them in round-up posts: Top ten mixers for bakers in 2023.
- How do affiliates make money? The affiliate gets a unique link (an "affiliate link") from which clicks can be tracked — typically using cookies. The cookie then tracks the user to see if they make a purchase. If they do within an allotted amount of time, then the affiliate will earn commission. https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/best-affiliate-programs
- Best affiliate programs: Constant contact, shopify, hubspot, Target, Ulta, Sephora, CheapFlights, Sandals Resorts
- Online courses
- Tiered memberships
- Selling product (digital or otherwise: example, direct download to a book)
- Ads (getting your blog monetized)
- Ad networks: Ezoic, adthrive, mediavine, adsense
- Ads only make you $$ when you have substantial traffic, so build your SEO strategies.
- CPC (Cost per click): (Sell a spot in an article to a specific brand).
- Example: sell banner ads directly to companies rathern to to an affiliate like Mediavine or AdThrive.
THE IMPORTANCE OF SESSIONS:
Grow your sessions before you apply for monetization, no matter which ad company you go with.
There is a google service (free) called Google Analytics to track your sessions. You’ll want to sign up for a UA account (not G4). Google can show you how to link that account to your blog (an easy process) but if you have trouble, let me know and I can help (or refer you to someone at Mediavine who can). Once you have UA set up on your blog you can see (daily, even hourly) how many people are going there and where they’re coming from. (More on this below.)
