The Road to Publication

You’ve studied the craft. You’ve attended conferences. You’ve written, re-written and polished your novel and are convinced it’s ready for someone else to look at.

Now what?

You’d love to pique the interest of an agent or editor but don’t have a clue where to begin. Should you attend a conference? Join a critique group? Pay for an edit? Should you put together a proposal or do you need a query letter first? Should you take the traditional publishing route or upload the book to kindle?

There are so many intricacies to the publishing process. You need to present yourself as a pro, and that’s not always easy to do at this stage. Many writers dive in head-first and try to shove open doors that aren’t yet ready to be opened. Others move so tentatively that they inch away from open doors.

Slow and steady wins the race. If your book is meant to be published, it will be. . .eventually. In the meantime, take a deep breath, check out the lessons on this site, and keep moving forward, one step at a time.
